ACCESSIBLE INFORMATION STANDARDS

The AIS aims to ensure that people who have a disability, impairment or sensory loss receive information that they can access and understand.  For example, providing large print, braille or professional communication support if they need it, such as a British Sign Language interpreter.

Why do we need this information?

  • We need to know if you have a disability, impairment or sensory loss that makes it difficult for you to access our services.
  • We want to ensure we provide you with care and information that you can access and understand.
  • We want to get better at communicating with our patients.
  • We want to make sure you can read and understand the information we send you.
  • We need to know if you find it hard to read our letters or if you need someone to support you at appointments.
  • We can then help you by making some simple adjustments to improve your care.

This EASY READ GUIDE explains the Accessible Information Standards in simple language and pictures.

INTERPRETER SERVICES

If you require a translator or interpreter, please inform the receptionist when making the appointment.

If you have a hearing impairment or require BSL, please complete the disability form so we can ensure we have information on the best way to contact you and how we can make adjustments or arrange a BSL interpreter if required.
